Control Any TV With The Ninja Remote

July 31, 2007 at 5:45 pm

Take control of any TV with this Ninja Remote from ThinkGeek.

This little universal remote is the newest (secret) weapon in the Ninja’s arsenal and we assure you in the right hands it can be used to quickly assassinate dangerously annoying TV shows. Simply point the Ninja Remote at the intended target (a television set) and press the mute button for a few seconds - once the TV mutes the remote is now ready to assume full control of its victim. Innocent bystanders will be frozen with fear (or very animated with anger) as the volume and channel change magically in front of their eyes, seemingly controlled by some mysterious force.

The Ninja Remote’s powers will work on a wide variety of televisions (Sony, Panasonic, Samsung, Toshiba, Sanyo, Aiwa, Mitsubishi, Philips, JVC, Sharp, etc) and its small size will safeguard you against discovery.

The Ninja Remote is available now from ThinkGeek for $8.99 (about £5)

iphone uk o2

The plans will be unlimited data, costing £35, £45 and £55 per month, and the iPhone will also come with free Wi-Fi with access to over 7000 Wi-Fi hotspots around the UK.

iphone uk o2

You will have to sign up for an 18 months contract. There is a limit: 1,400 internet pages as part of fair usage agreement.

iphone uk

So lets have a look at what this revolutionary mobile device will cost us.

First of there is the £269 purchase price, next you have to sign up to an 18 month contract with O2.

The cheapest one available is £35 per month, so the total cost of the contract over the 18 months is £630, add on your £269 purchase price and the total cost of iPhone ownership in the UK is £899.

That is a lot for a mobile phone, especially since mobiles in the UK are usually free or at low cost, but this is no ordinary mobile phone.

Is the iPhone UK worth the investment ? that remains to be seen, it has had amazing reviews in the US so far, lets hope that they don’t drop the price here in the UK as soon as they did in the US, leaving a lot of the early iPhone adopters unhappy.

Updated 18/09/2007

Updated 11/11/2007

I would recommend if you are buying an iPhone in the UK you do not buy it from the Carphone Warehouse, I have written about my experience with buying it from them here.

LG Philips develops oil and water based flexible OLED display

July 30, 2007 at 5:45 pm

LG Philips has recently filed a patent for a flexible OLED screen technology which would use water and oil to display images.

Apparently one of the problems with current flexible OLED displays, get to hot which makes them hard to manufacture.

LG Philips plans to get around this problem with their water and oil based display, which would used plastic electrodes to create the pixels.

The opaque oil would float on the water and obscure a colored surface beneath — when an electric charge was applied to the field it would reveal the surface and change the color of the pixel.

Apparently this new process is a lot simpler and cheaper than current flexible OLED displays and could possibly bring these displays to mass market at a reasonable price.
