Mitubishi have started hiring our their Wakamuru Robot, as receptionists in Japan for $1,000 a day or $25,000 a year.

The Wakamaru can recognize faces, carry on simple conversations with a vocabulary of 10,000 words, and perform simple manual tasks. It can also show visitors to their desination within the building and sing them songs.

Anyone who has seen the movie iRobot must wonder if this is a good idea.
