HTC Insider Confirms The Google Phone

According to Crunch Gear, a HTC insider has confirmed the existence of the Google Phone.
Apparently the gPhone could be launched early in 2008 and Google is currently assessing over twenty HTC models and refining the gPhone’s final handset design.
The gPhone will feature a special version of Google Maps which will be compatible with built in GPS and also feature compatibility with Gmail.
Another interesting point is that Google Talk will be integrated into the gPhone which will add VoIP capability.

I think the gPhone won’t compete with the iPhone. I’m sure it will be cool, but I have the feeling Google is thinking about giving them out for free to satisfy it’s advertising market.
