Check out this concept messaging toaster from designer Sasha Tseng.

It features a message board on top of the toaster and a stylus.

Write whatever message you want on the message board, pop in your bread and when your toast is done the message will appear on your toast.

This is a great concept, and I am sure you could have a lot of fun with it.

My only question is: is it still edible afterwards?

  2. {fatgadget} on September 7th, 2007 11:45 pm

I think the idea is that it toasts the message into the bread, so I would presume it would be edible, although it is only a concept device at the moment.

well as long as you can tolerate the lead based ink that is used you should be fine

maybe you could just make it give little zaps of electricity imitating the pattern on the outside, burned by electricity. lol

You could drawn little pictures of mother Mary on your toast and make a small fortune.

Haha. There’s no ink here. Lol. Its pretty obvious this concept is toasting the message into the bread. It is more than possible to make this. The toaster would have a dot-matrix resembling heating grate, and the “pixels” will heat as is required to toast the proper message.

can u edit the text afterwards?? let´s say after the first bite..?

  11. Jason on September 9th, 2007 4:54 pm

It’s just like Cameron said, but the ‘pixels’ have to actually be imprinted on the bread - physically touch it to leave a readable message - especially if it’s a hand-written one

“can u edit the text afterwards?? let´s say after the first bite..?:

Yes it is edible, but its too late after the first bite.

If this invention meets FDA safety standards (which as we know aren’t very high) you could sell this to every soccer mom in the good ole USA. She’s just looking for one more way to tell her kids how much she loves them. You’d find one in every lunch box - particulalry at private schools.

    That is awesome..
It will forever take the place of paper. We will have bread notes everywhere!
They can even call it toast it notes.
