Apple blacklisting hacked iPhones ?

September 23, 2007

According to The Boy Genius Report, Apple has responded to the recent spate of iPhone hacks, third party application, and unlocks by reportedly ‘Blacklisting’ hacked devices that are brought in for a service or return.

According to a customer who experienced the wrath of Apple’s increasingly evil empire, he was informed that because his phone had been unlocked without Apple’s consent, it was blacklisted and therefore ineligible for return, service, or replacement.

Apparently the he customer was eventually able to return his  iPhone, less a 10% restocking fee.

This is not good news as I plan to buy the iPhone when it hits the UK and then get it unlocked.
