Review - The Jamie Oliver Survival Kit
I have just road tested the Jamie Oliver Survival Kit by Tefal.

It arrived well packaged with great images illustrated on the box of Jamie giving ideas for use in his usual cool laid back manner.
The styling was funky blue camouflage which added a bright spot of colour to my cooking!
I was expecting a smaller set more like a tranger camping pan set but was pleasantly surprised as the set was full size and of great quality. Not at all flimsy, this set is sturdy and will definitely last for some time. The quality was good and I liked the various sizes of pan which are suitable for making a whole meal. This set has multiple talents as it comes with a Wok 26cm, a frying pan 26cm and a saucepan with a grill effect base 20cm and 2 glass lids to see your food cooking 20cm & 26cm.
This is a robust pan set to use in the kitchen, though a little bulky for travelling. It took a hammering in my kitchen and I liked the fact the handle was removable as there were no handles poking out and getting hot on the hob. It really is suitable for both entertaining and everyday use.

The heat spot is a nice touch which goes red when at the correct temperature for cooking, as is the removable handle, this feature takes a bit of getting used to as it doesn’t release until you move your fingers away from the release at the back, I wonder too whether it will scratch the not sick coating off the pans. It was strong and sturdy. I have to confess I wouldn’t use the pan from hob to table though as Jamie shows in his picture even though the pan can withstand very high temperatures.
The stacking of all the pans inside /all together is a neat little idea which took me a while to figure out at first as the instructions did not illustrate this clearly, however once fitted inside each other the set took up little space and the silicon rubber seals around the lids ensured there was no rattling around. I’m not sure they would travel well however as there was nothing to keep the top secured to the bottom pan. A strap or clasp would be handy.
For all those environmentally friendly cooks out there this comes up trumps as you can use it straight to the table and for storing food in the fridge without having to use separate dishes.
This set is excellent for students, cooking fanatics and novices not to mention boat/caravan owners where space is of a minimum.
A nice house warming gift or wedding pressie – A real practical choice.
Tefal and Jamie Oliver have pulled this off, well done a definite 8 out of 10.
