It comes with 30 programmable voices, from a soothing one to wake you up gently, to a shouting one that is bound to give you a heart attack.

It also plays CD’s and MP3’s and is available online from SkyMall for $79.99 (about £40).

If I had owned one of these when I was a teenager I might have actually been able to get up in the morning.

    It isn’t as nice as the alarm clock on wheels that rolls away after you hit the snooze button.
