Wow! And look at the viewing angle! Amazing… where will TVs be in 5 years!?

i read about this, it uses organic liquid crystal display (OLCD) right now i wouldnt buy one, they have a very short lifetime compared to the average LCD (these have a life time of about 15 000 hours)

From Neece: “And look at the viewing angle!”

Pictures like these often simulate the actual screen image.

Also, forget that screen, how’s that girl!! Gotta love Samsung’s marketing dept.

The comment above is right; that is OLCD technology. While OLCD is brighter and has greater color contrast (and obviously can be thinner) than LCD, it is still just an emerging technology. The screens are very susceptible to wear and liquids, especially water, can easily destroy them. Still, I’m looking forward to what we can expect in the future!

I still use my 42″ CRT TV, and as I’M 37 years old I remember my Dad getting a VCR for the equiv. of a 1000 dollars back in 1983, now they can’t give them away. I’m bidding my time until the markets settle down and they decide whether HD-DVD or Blue Ray is teh way forward. Anyone who is willing to pay out thousands of dollars on new HD Tvs/LCDs/Plasmas is a fool. Why? The prices will drop enormously as compaies try to gain market share and their is very little HD content out their anyway. It reminds me of the Beta Max vs VHS war that broke out in the mid 80’s.

Save your pennies and just wait is my advice.

Oh yeah, the ad girl is definitely shaggable ;)

i looked at the current prices of some of the gadgets ive purchase… it makes me feel like a total idiot… price drops down to 1/3 of what i paid. i could have saved hundereds

Told you so…. just wait and be patient. I’m not even going to mention the iPod and their ever larger capacity for fear of embarassing a few people who dashed out to get the 20gb one and 6 months later could get 80gb for a third off the price of the 20gb one. rofl

Yeah…don’t pay attention to that angle. That image is pasted on there. I have it as one of my backgrounds.

I doubt that the pictures were PhotoShopped in.
OLED technology is known to have a very broad viewing angle.

Organic LCD ? (Liquid Crystal Display)
I think what some people mean is Organic LED (Light Emitting Dioid).

They do have short lifespans, yes, allthough its improving all the time. OLEDs have the advantage of generating their own light.

So I’m not at all sure this tv is OLED.
As for viewing angle, it should be quite good, but I’m betting heavily that image is done in post.

the quote above from a previous comment is worthy of further comment. The reasons people do what they do with their money are beyond comment. In order for the price to drop people have to buy them. Manufacturing costs decrease with volume. The more early adopters there are the sooner the price fall will happen. I know I cant relate to being able to drop thousands on a TV but I am glad some people can!

I can tell immediately that the pictures are photoshopped, mainly because the tv’s have no cables of any sort going into them!! Especially in the second picture, where unless there are holes in the stand, and the cables are feed through the bottom of the tv!

  15. pANI UNITED KINGDOM Windows Vista Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.9 on November 6th, 2007 12:41 pm

Milander you plum, if we all thought like you and waited until things were cheap no one would buy, no one would have anything and prices wouldn’t ever drop as there would be no demand……sigh.

O ye and the plum Simon says its photo shopped. sigh sigh sigh, The picture on the screen is not real but the tv is. Thats why there’s no cables. sigh

Its not a LCD, its no OLCD, and it has a longer lifespan than most TV’s its made from OLED’s Organic Light Emitting Diods. the technology is new but it has some great promises. unlike current LCD and Plasma TV’s this one can make much better blacks because it doesnt need a blacklight. it also consumes less power and has shown that it can better transition between different colors making pictures clearer sharper and more vivid at high frame rates.

MIlander…you are a fool. The time is now. You can’t even buy a CRT at big box stores anymore. I agree about the hd-dvd/ blu-ray but the monitor isn’t an issue there.

This is actually BS.The world thinnest LCD TV is acutully made by Hitachi and sharp right now. You won’t see this TV anywhere. Its defenetely some BS of samsung. They have been copying a lot of japanese electronics. I had lived in japan and samsung and LG drags employees from japanese company cause they have low technology. Samsung is such a copycat.
