Cool Gadgets - The Tiny Tok Tak MP3 Player
November 14, 2007
Check out this concept MP3 player from designer Tae-wan Kim, the Tok Tak.

The Tok Tak is a mini Mp3 player the size of a standard audio Jack.

The Tok Tak hangs from your headphones, and can also be used with a base station which will charge you Tok Tak and also has built in speakers.
The Dock is controlled by the Tok Tak like a joystick to change tunes.

how cool! I think the next one will be an mp3 player inside the headphone and that’ll be as far as it can go.

Andy.
This is no where near as far as it can go. Imagine a bracelet that is smart enough to beam sound only you can hear directly to your ear drums, or an implant that hooks you up to a dispersed signal (similar, but more advanced than the cellular network now) where your ‘computer’ is just your preferences inside the internet, where you can check your messages, and have your music playing whenever and wherever you are, all the while having the virtual world superimposed over the real world, so you could be walking downtown, while having a conversation with your friends avatar who appears to be beside you while they are actually cities away. Science fiction? maybe now, but give it 5 years.
Why is it that the mp3 player has the headphone jack, and the headphones have the connector? This would mean people would have to buy proprietary earbuds, or need to solder a stereo gender bender theirselves, which in turn kills the whole “tiny formfactor” selling point.
As for the rest, very nice, but needs to shake loose of the ipod’ish piano finish and just not white white color.
it looks awesome and all but it probably wont be able to hold more than 3 songs, but you never technology is getting pretty insane now adays
uh, is it just me or does this not look a hell of a lot smaller than the already released ipod shuffle? and jm says only 3 songs? its not the year 2000.
this thing looks pretty cool
bla bla bla … just another concept… bla bla bla… Geez: post stuff that’s real.

Does the earphone get any longer? Just looking at the 1st pic, i can tell it can be very in convient just hanging there. And with the batteries that small, you wouldnt be able to turn up the volume much, cause it might drain out the battery in minutes.
Also, whats with the circular design of the the dock?
The Japanese really makes some seriously interesting stuff…
BTW, cool site!

Looks wicked, only thing is - you cant copy anything to it. Needs to be a non standard jack, like the ipod shuffle base.
great post. i liked it…
Hmm… how about music that we can only hear? a small device gives music so only you can hear it, without headphones?
