That sure is a nice gadget, but it sure is really expensive. For the price of this gadget, you can get your self a nice fast computer with 4 Gig RAM, and a good processor. So it’s not really worth it at this point.

And like most really cool concepts it uses technology that has yet to be invented. Don’t expect this to hit shelves for quite some time.

From what I have heard, “Art. Lebedev Studio” is a company delivering promises but not necessarily real products. But they see to that people pay in advance.

It’s pretty cool, but overcoming people’s preference for tactile feedback is no minor issue.

that would be great, and i really hope this is cheap enough. because, you can really buy a decent computer which can do that, i’m guessing.

    eh.

thats looks like something out of star-trek
Why do I have the feeling that we will be laughing at what our keyboards look like today in ten years like we laugh at 5 1/4″ floppy disks now.

Interesting concept, but typing is really awkward without tactile feedback, it’s difficult to type accurately/quickly when you have to wonder whether you actually hit the key or not. (It’s what makes the laser keyboard irritating to type on)

Its not future technology nor something that hasn’t been invented yet, its just a touchscreen that displays a keyboard. Its today’s technology used in a very creative (but probably expensive) way. Anyway I’d like to say, go Lebedev! (and go Tatu!).

Think of the iPhone. Nuff said..

This is indeed a very cool bit of kit, and it uses technology that is already available, as a keyboard it will not suit many people, without the tactile feedback, but it could be very useful in medical, factory or other dirty environments, though the styling would be a bit wasted, I cannot fathom why you’d ever want to display a movie or other image on a keyboard though, a PC will always require a larger viewing area, than this can provide, by avoiding being a monitor replacement they can use a slower LCD unit to cut down on the cost.

I could see this being more useful for gamers as a smaller pad which you can program (like the Nostromo pads), but in this case you add whatever keys, and adjust their sizes to what you want.

You’ll need both hands to block your ears from hearing Tatu trying to sing !

Inspired by the iPhone, no doubt.

And this kind of technology has been around for a few years now — have a look at the Jazzmutant Lemur.
