Wouldn’t you just love one of these to help clear your yard :) This forest fire prevention robot a group project by Jordan Guelde & Daniel Shankland II  (www.coroflot.com/dbs2) is an advanced robot designed to clear large areas of foliage from around a forest fire to help stop the flames from spreading.

Traditional back burning would certainly be cheaper and possibly less lethal to surrounding wildlife but complete with and array of hubless motors, and integrated fuel system of its back this robot is a hell of a lot cooler. Unfortunately this version is intended for entertainment design rather than the production line.

This design is incredibly impractical for the purpose. Can the top arms even reach the ground? The footings don’t look practical for navigating the trick of stepping over and around all of the logs being cut down and unstable terrain. And the machine looks so top-heavy it would never be practical for handling weight and would make it fall over very easy on an incline. Also, why is the head so high up?? I thought this device was for clearing brush not trimming the tops off of shrubs. Back to the drawing board…try making something that would work look cool.
