Hasselblad 50 Megapixel Camera H3DII-50
Hasselblad is well known for designing top-end photography equipment and it appears that they are not going to disappoint with the introduction of their 50-megapixel H3DII-50 camera today. The H3DII-50 boasts the worlds largest sensor. The sensor it’s self measures 36×48mm and is built by Kodak which is twice the size of the largest 35mm DSLR sensors.
Due to the amount of data this camera captures, it can record at 1 frame per second and files sizes per picture would be in the 300 Meg range. On the back of the camera you find a 3″ display, a CCD cooling sink as well as optional GPS accessories and media cards. The camera can shoot at ISO ranges of 50 to 400.
Price wise, you need to have a fairly healthy bank account as the cost is an estimated $35k+ for this beast as the previous versions (H3DII-39) cost over $35k.
If you’re wondering why you don’t see a lot of Hasselblad cameras in people’s hands when your out and about I think I may have your answer. It’s not because it’s a bad camera, but the price on this baby can be a little tough to swallow for many. Hasselblad hasn’t released the price for the H3DII-50 yet but we know that the H3DII-39 was upwards of $35k, and the company is saying that when the new model comes out you can trade up and just pay the difference.
