gCubik 3D cube display
Check out thisĀ gCubik 3D LCD “display box” measuring about 10×10x10cm, that makes it possible to visualize objects in 3 dimensions via integrated imaging technology. The National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) may have just inadvertently introduced the future of the 3D movie experience .
The tiny box feeds video through a batch of lenses on each side, thus creating a three-dimensional image for any person looking into the box on any side. At just 10 centimeters, this prototype might not blow you away, but imagining the video game and theatrical uses such a device might serve certainly should.
The NICT wants to significantly improve the display quality within 3 years. A wireless version is in the works as well. The institute aims at commercializing the gCubik for use in business and science. They say their invention could be used by video game companies, too, for example.
