World’s smallest x86-based Internet tablet?
Chipmaker Via & its sponsor have created the 3.3-inch square “MTube” the “world’s smallest x86 PC,” and the first “IMP” (Internet Media Player) with TV recording capabilities. The 5.3-ounce MTube measures 3.3 x 3.3 x 0.8 inches (8.3 x 8.3 x 2cm), and sports a 2.8-inch VGA (640 x 480) touch panel display. There’s built-in WiFi and WiMax wireless communications, with CDMA cellular networking optional.

The MTube was shown decoding a simulated digital TV (DVB-T) broadcast. It was also shown streaming video to a wirelessly connected digital photo frame. Advanced digital TV features reportedly include time-shifted TV viewing, via 8GB of built-in flash, and picture-in-picture viewing. There’s also a full browser (mostlikely Firefox) supporting “Web 2.0″ content. Via’s demo of the device featured YouTube video content and Google Maps.

E-paper - high resolution flexible colour display
The LG.phillips 14.3 inch flexible display, is approximately the same size of a piece of A4 sheet of paper and has a high resolution 1280 x 800 pixel 16.7 million colour display. The flexibility of the (300 micrometers) display is provided by the metal and foil plastic substrates rather than traditional glass and the applications for this technology are huge.

The E-paper flexible display is also highly energy efficient only using energy when the image changes, which can viewed from 180 degrees and stays crisp even when flexed.

Curved Monitor - Alienware
Wouldn’t three of these make a desktop and a half. Alienware’s new curved 2880 x 900 is “a doublewide curved DLP display with OLED illumination.” and mimics peripheral vision. It has an ultra fast 0.02-millisecond response time which should be faster enough for the most hardcore gamers

Hopefully this bad boy should be available in the 2nd quarter of 2008. I think I should start saving now.
