Khet Laser Board Game

April 2, 2008 at 6:46 am

Khet combines lasers with classic strategy for 2 Players. There are four types of playing pieces, and two of them have mirrors. Game play is simple, and easy to learn, as there are only 3 movement choices. The goal is to eliminate your opponent’s Pharaoh. And, you eliminate the Pharaoh just like they did in olden times - by firing a red laser! Each side of the board is equipped with its own laser, which you press after your turn. The laser bounces from mirror to mirror (always shooting off at a 90 degree angle). If the laser hits any piece on a non-reflective surface, that piece is removed from play. If you eliminate your opponent’s Pharaoh, you win. If you eliminate your own Pharaoh, you will be mocked for all time.

Doom Creator Looking to Develop id iPhone Games

March 10, 2008 at 3:00 pm

John Carmack has added id to the list of companies committing themselves to the iPhone/iPod Touch platform. Several other big-name developers have already expressed their commitment to the device, with EA saying a version of Maxis and Will Wright’s Spore is in the works and Sega swinging Super Monkey Ball to the platform.

Carmack also laid out some of the advantages to Apple’s iPhone platform as seen from a developer’s perspective.

“The iTunes distribution channel is really a more important aspect than a lot of people understand,” Carmack noted. “The ability to distribute larger applications than the over-the-air limits and effectively market your title with more than a dozen character deck name, combined with the reasonable income split make this look like a very interesting market.”
