Asus add 3G to Eee Pc’s

September 30, 2008 at 12:00 pm

Asus has announced that it will be adding 3.75G connectivity to its hugely-popular series of Eee PC netbooks, enabling convenient and high-speed access to the Internet anytime, anywhere.

The 3.75G equipped Eee PC will allow users to download data at up to 7.2Mbps. I would add here that if you are in the UK then speeds are probably going to be between 1.5Mbps and 3Mbps on average which is still respectable and good enough to download data at a good speed. Upload speeds will be up to the 2Mbps range.

Share your iPod Songs via miShare

February 4, 2008 at 8:05 am

If you need to copy songs from one iPod to another then the miShare can help. The miShare connects directly between two iPods and will copy song at the touch of a button without the need for a computer. A single button press copies the last song or video played or a pre-selected photo folder. A longer press duplicates any files you’ve got stored in your current On-The-Go playlist, so you can easily copy multiple files.

Unfortunately, the miShare doesn’t currently work with the iPhone or iPod Touch, but should work fine with all other iPods with the standard 30-pin dock connector (Mini, Nano, 3G, 4G, Video (5G), and Classic (6G) models).

Available for $99 about £50

Google Teams with Dell to Topple iPhone

February 1, 2008 at 9:47 am

There is talk of Google & Dell teaming up to take on the Apple iPhone. The two biggest dogs in their respective yards, could pool together their resources and may just may have enough musclepower to topple the iPhone behemoth. Neither Google nor Dell are confirming (or denying) these rumors, so this is reduced to just rumblings on the Interweb at this point. Dell has dabbled in the PDA market before, so it’s only a short leap to arrive in smartphone territory. Current word has the Google-Dell hybrid making some of announcement at the 3GSM World Conference in Barcelona next month. We will keep you posted.

Sonic the Hedgehog lands on the iPod

December 18, 2007 at 4:36 pm

I am sure I am not the only one who spent hours playing Sonic the Hedgehog many years ago on their Sega Mega Drive (I am not that old honest!).

sonic ipod

Well you can now get this classic game on your Apple iPod, it is available to download from iTunes for $4.99 (about £2.50).

You can play Sonic on your iPod whilst listening to your favourite tunes, and it is controlled via the scroll wheel.

It only works with the 3G iPod Nano, all 5G iPods and the iPod Classic, it doesn’t work on the iPod Touch or the iPhone.

I would love to see Sonic, and some other decent games on the iPhone, come on Apple sort it out!.

It’s UK iPhone Day!

November 9, 2007 at 10:52 am

Finally after a long wait, the UK iPhone will go on sale today at 6.02 pm.

iphone uk

The iPhone will be available in Apple stores, O2 stores, and the Carphone Warehouse, and all of these stores will open at 6.02 pm today until 10.00pm.

I am interested to see what reposne the UK iPhone gets, I suspect it is going to be a big hit here in the UK, the only thing that will let it down is that it will run on the slower EDGE network, rather than 3G which is very popular here in the UK, but I suspect a lot of people will put up with this.

The iPhone is going to cost you £269 upfront and then a regular monthly fee, the tariffs available are £35, £45 and £55 per month, and you will have to comit to an 18 month contract with O2.

I would be interested to hear how many of our readers are going to buy the iPhone, and what they think about the cost of it.

3 Skype Phone - Full Review - Everything you need to know about the 3 Skype Phone

November 4, 2007 at 1:43 pm

I have been using the 3 Skype Phone for about a week, now and I have say say I am impressed.

The 3 Skype Phone is a merging of two technologies, Skype and mobile phones. This is a first for mobile phone companies and a bold move by 3 Mobile as you get completely free calls to any other Skype user.

3 Skype Phone Review

The Skype function works exactly like Skype does on your PC, you log in and out the same way and it displays all your contacts.

Initially when I received the 3 Skype Phone to review, I thought the Skype feature was a great gimmick, but after using it over the last week I have found out how useful this can be, being able to call anyone of your Skype contacts from wherever you are is really useful and I can see this feature being of great benefit to business users, as well as the every day Skype user.

The 3 Skype Phone itself is a pretty nifty little device, weighing just 86g and measuring just 100 x 44 x 13.6mm, and it comes in a choice of three colours, black, white/pink and white/blue.

You can either buy the phone on a monthly contract, the cheapest 3 offer is £12 per month, the phone is free on this option or you can buy the Pay as You Go option for £49.99. All Skype calls are completely free, and on the PAYG option all you need to do to benefit from the free Skype calls is top up the credit on the phone by £10 a month.

There are quite a lot of other features on the phone including an MP3 player, a 2.0 mega-pixel camera, and a web browser.

The web browser is pretty good, and as the 3 Skype Phone is 3G enabled it is fast too. 3 Mobile have some great services available, including Mobile TV with channels like BBC1, ITV1, the Comedy Channel, BBC News 24 and lots more.

3 Skype Phone Review

There are also some other great services like Yahoo Search, Windows Live Messenger, Google search, Facebook and YouTube.

All in all the 3 Skype phone is an amazing little mobile, packed with features and for the price you can’t go wrong.

I would love to see 3 Mobile roll out the Skype feature across their mobile phone range, as this would revolutionise the mobile phone industry, and would benefit their customers, imagine if every mobile phone had Skype built in and the calls were free.

What 3 Mobile have done is have the balls to install a feature like Skype on a mobile phone, where the other mobile phone operators have been scared too in case they loose revenue, I think the 3 Skype Phone will be a big hit for 3 mobile.
