Review - Antec Veris A/V Cooler

July 7, 2008 at 6:22 pm

I love it when a large box arrives at the door, and I know its another cool product to review, the latest one I received was the Antec Veris A/V Cooler.

antec veris

If you have a lot of HiFi or AV Equipment, then you probably know how hot it can get, when it is all stacked on top of each other.

The Antec Veris A/V Cooler is designed to sit in between your HiFi or Home Cinema components and keep everything nice and cool.

antec veris

I have to admit it looks pretty good in between my HiFi set up, the top is made from aluminum so it looks pretty stylish, it is also thin and lightweight, measuring about 1.8 inches tall.

As you can see from the photos, there are two large fans underneath the unit, which are surprisingly quiet. These large fans draw the heat from the unit sitting on top of the Veris and direct the hot air out of the back of the unit.

There are two settings for the fans low and high, on the low setting the fans run at around 1200 rpm and you can hardly hear anything, on the higher setting the fans run at around 1600rpm, the sound on this setting is slightly more noticeable but not noticeable enough to distract you from you HiFi.

Overall the Antec Veris A/V cooler is a good solution to keep your expensive HiFi or Home Entertainment kit nice and cool and for the retail price of $89.99 its pretty reasonable.

Suburban Tipi designed by John Paananen

February 8, 2008 at 2:30 pm

In need of some extra space, then the Suburban Tipi is for you. Unlike tipis of yore, this one uses pvc siding, polypropylene sheeting, engineered timber, polycarbonate supports and erected dimensions being 16 feet tall, 18 feet in diameter. Inspired by yuris, tipis, and igloos, designer John Paananen wanted to see if living in such an iconic spire would work in today’s modern world. The “house” temporarily existed at Cranbrook Academy in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan for 7 months.

Folding wheels makes bike transport easy

February 4, 2008 at 12:30 pm

Duncan Fitzsimmons a UK designer, freelance industrial designer and  mountain biker has invented a folding wheel made up of carbon fiber. The carbon fiber wheels have numerous hinges, which make it possible to fold the wheel and thus solve the problem of bulk. Hand Blown Lights

January 31, 2008 at 12:14 pm

Check out these unique lights designed, created and hand blown by sculptor Dylan Kehde Rolofs. He describes them as “ the restoration of dialogue between filament and bulb,” Roelofs created the lights partly as a reaction against the soulless glow of low-energy bulbs. Each bulb draws about 1 amp at either 12v or 24v, thus about 12 or 24 watts. The filaments are fully replaceable.

Moldable mouse

January 30, 2008 at 11:18 am

This mouse concept by Lite-on is made of lightweight modeling clay with a flexible polyurethane and nylon fabric cover that lets you mold it into whatever shape is most comfortable for you. The stick on, radio-frequency controlled mouse buttons and touch-sensitive scroll pad can be attached in any position to suit the user.

Moldable mouse

Moldable Mouse breaks the boundaries of the traditional mouse with its revolutionary design. Currently, all computer mouse products in the market are made with hard plastic, and their shapes are not universally adaptable to the human hand. Even the most advanced “ergonomically designed” mouse does not fit the preferences of every user. The inelasticity of the plastic model is problematic for long-time usage, as numerous people have suffered wrist injuries from extensive use in a fixed position. Moldable Mouse eliminates this problem with its unique design. more info
