Solar Dress
If you ladies are looking for a little extra power when your out and about then this solar panel dress might be the answer.
The Day-For-Night dress is a modular, reconfigurable dress comprised of 448 white circuit boards (although the number changes as the dress can get longer or shorter). Each tile is designed in such a way as to accommodate a solar cell, a RGB LED, or a photocell, and jumper connectors (in the form of 0 Ohm resistors). A control board provides power, communicates with the tiles, and links to a computer via RF. The dress is completely modular both in terms of software and hardware.

It made its debut at the Siggraph Fashion Show

Changes to the hardware SONY uses in it’s PS3, including changes to the cell processor are helping SONY nearly half the cost of building each PS3 Unit. Japanese analysts responsible for revealing the figures also suggest that - in spite of Sony’s hopes - the games section of the firm will still lose money this fiscal year. Nikko Citigroup reckons last year’s £1 billion gaming loss will reduce to £715 million this year before turning around in 2009.

Apple Confirms iPhone SDK for February
Steve Jobs has confirmed that iPhone SDK will be officially available in February 2008.

Third Party Applications on the iPhone
Let me just say it: We want native third party applications on the iPhone, and we plan to have an SDK in developers’ hands in February. We are excited about creating a vibrant third party developer community around the iPhone and enabling hundreds of new applications for our users. With our revolutionary multi-touch interface, powerful hardware and advanced software architecture, we believe we have created the best mobile platform ever for developers.
It will take until February to release an SDK because we’re trying to do two diametrically opposed things at once—provide an advanced and open platform to developers while at the same time protect iPhone users from viruses, malware, privacy attacks, etc. This is no easy task. Some claim that viruses and malware are not a problem on mobile phones—this is simply not true. There have been serious viruses on other mobile phones already, including some that silently spread from phone to phone over the cell network. As our phones become more powerful, these malicious programs will become more dangerous. And since the iPhone is the most advanced phone ever, it will be a highly visible target.
Some companies are already taking action. Nokia, for example, is not allowing any applications to be loaded onto some of their newest phones unless they have a digital signature that can be traced back to a known developer. While this makes such a phone less than “totally open,” we believe it is a step in the right direction. We are working on an advanced system which will offer developers broad access to natively program the iPhone’s amazing software platform while at the same time protecting users from malicious programs.
We think a few months of patience now will be rewarded by many years of great third party applications running on safe and reliable iPhones.
Steve
P.S.: The SDK will also allow developers to create applications for iPod touch. [Oct 17, 2007]

The Microsoft Keylogger Keyboard For Spies
Check out this Microsoft keyboard, yes it looks just like any other keyboard.

But this keyboard contains built in keylogging hardware, plug it into any PC and it will automatically record keystrokes, and up to 2 million of them at that on the internal 2MB of memory.
Since the keylogger is built into the keyboard hardware, it is undetectable by any Anti-Virus or Anti-Spyware software! All you need to do to start logging, is to plug this new keyboard into a computer with a PS/2 (standard keyboard) port.
To retrieve the logs, you need to open up some text editing software such as Microsoft Word, Notepad, Wordpad, etc and type in the keylogger password. The keylogger password can be changed to whatever you like, but you need to make it obscure so that your normal computer users do not type it by accident. When you type in the keylogger password, the keylogger prints a menu on the screen, allowing you to download the logs and set the keylogger up. It’s very simple to use, and full instructions are provided.
So if your boss decides to upgrade all your keyboards in the office and you see one of these on your desk, it may be time to look for a new job.
The Microsoft keylogger keyboard is available online no for £215 (about $430) from Spywarehouse.Via Gizmodo

iPhone Gets 100% Unlocked - Works On Any Network
According to Gizmodo the iPhone is now 100% unlocked using a Turbo SIM card, without depending on the version of your current carrier card.

It will apparently give you full calling, SMS and GPRS data capabilities with any network. No extra hardware is needed, all that is required is an $80 blank SIM and the modification is done via the iPhone.
The hackers are claiming that this method doesn’t use card readers and it doesn’t depend on your previous card version either, so it doesn’t matter if it is a V1, V2 or V3. All of them will work fine.
If these works out to be a good long term unlock for the iPhone, and we don’t get any news soon on the iPhone UK launch, I may be looking on eBay for one.
