Handy Robotic Arm
Spot Industries have created an articulated robotic human-like hand and forearm assembly appropriately named “Handy”.
Spot Industries spokesperson So Soon Dun states “Handy could be useful for any number of domestic tasks such as washing, hammering, painting, digging, kneading, the only limit is your imagination.” He went on to mention that “Handy has a very, very firm but soft grip and its ability to oscillate up and down at select speeds is quite satisfying.”

The Tomy i-Sobot
Check out the World’s smallest fully functional bot known as the i-SOBOT. A compact hobby bipedal humanoid robot that is only 6.49 inches tall and weighs only 350g! (through the development of a proprietary compact servo motor, but who cares about that?) This tiny bot broke the Guinness World Record for being the smallest advanced humanoid robot.

The micro-sized high-tech i-SOBOT is equipped with 17 servo motors provided throughout the body and also a gyro sensor. It is capable of making different kinds of smooth motions while automatically balancing itself.

Fujitsu HOAP-3 Robot now makes omelets
HOAP-3, is a biped robot created by Fujitsu which can complete a number of tasks, including playing soccer. Researchers in Sylvain Calinon and company at the Learning Algorithms and Systems Laboratory in Switzerland are taking HOAP-3 to the next level and training the humanoid to make omelets.

Uno Electric UniCycle Restyled
This futuristic electric UniCycle is in its third incarnation which recently made its debut at the 2008 National Motorcycle Show in Toronto. It now sports custom made wheels, a new body, engine upgrades and even included a trip to a robotics and gyro expert in California, who helped to fine tune the two gyros the Uno uses for turning and forward and backward motion.

Unfortunately there’s still no word as to when or if the vehicle might actually enter production.

RoboTurtle - AUV new propulsion system
The RoboTurtle, described as an “agile and aggressively maneuvering biomimetic autonomous underwater vehicle,” with its oscillating foils maybe opening up new avenues for propulsion. The foils allow RoboTurtle named Finnegan to enjoy a high degree of maneuverability in confined spaces and high speed in open water, which is key for an AUV which will switch between traversing bodies of water and exploring underwater wrecks.
