Toyota Winglet set to take on Segway

Toyota’s has announced that it is developing the  Winglet range of human transport devices  which will come in three sizes.

The Winglet — still being refined — is one of TMC’s people-assisting Toyota Partner Robots. Designed to contribute to society by helping people enjoy a safe and fully mobile life, the Winglet is a compact next-generation everyday transport tool that offers advanced ease of use and expands the user’s range of mobility.

Sleeping driver alarm system

Toyota is currently working on a system to alert drivers when they fall asleep. The eye monitoring camera in the dashboard first stores the normal position of your eyelids and then monitors them for any signs of drowsiness or lack of attention. If it looks like you are falling off to sleep an alarm sounds.

The Lexus LS600H already has a face monitoring system in front of the driver that emits a loud alarm if it catches you spending too long looking away from the road and will apply the brakes if it thinks a crash is imminent. Via Gizmodo

Nintendo has risen above Sony in Market Value to become one of Japan’s top ten issues for the first time according to Reuters.

Nintendo has joined the likes of Toyota, Honda and cannon on the list of the ten most valuable Japanese companies.

This must be down to Nintendo’s success with the Wii and Sony’s lac-lustre performance with their new PS3, with the Wii outselling the PS3 by 3 to 1.
